Search “best Shopify social media auto-post apps” and you get about forty articles that are all the same article. They rank the apps by whatever the App Store listing says, quote the marketing copy back at you, and move on. Nobody installed anything. Nobody clicked publish.
So we did that instead.
On a single Shopify demo store, in one sitting, we installed all ten of the main auto-posting apps. We ran each onboarding, connected real social accounts, built a real post, and clicked publish. Then we walked each app’s automation builder to see whether the “auto” in auto-post is real or a screenshot.
The results were not what the listings suggest.
Disclosure, up front: Yoomru is our app. It is in this comparison and we tested it exactly the same way. You will notice we also list what it does worse than the competition, because a comparison where the author wins every round is worth nothing to you. Check our claims against the apps yourself. That is the point of publishing the method.
How we tested
- One store, one day. Every app installed on the same Shopify demo store, tested 7 August 2026. Same catalog, same products, same images, so nothing is explained away by “your store was different.”
- Full path, not a feature list. Install, onboarding, channel connection, compose a post, publish it, then build an automation.
- Real channels. Actual OAuth connections to Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn and others. Not a preview mode.
- Free tier first. We tried to reach a published post without paying, because that is what a merchant evaluating an app actually does.
- Listing data refreshed 13 August 2026 directly from the Shopify App Store, not from other blog posts. Several “best of” articles currently claim Outfy has “over 1,000 reviews.” It has 462.
The comparison table
| App | Rating (reviews) | Since | Pricing / mo | Networks | Real free plan | Video |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Outfy | 4.8 (462) | 2015 | Free / 25 / 40 / 70 | 6 | Yes | Yes, AI Studio |
| Minta | 4.4 (285) | 2020 | 5 / 35 / 55 | 4 | Disputed | Yes, metered |
| Xyla AI | 4.7 (194) | 2023 | Free / 29 / 39 / 60 | 6 | Yes | Yes, credits |
| Predis.ai | 4.6 (129) | 2022 | 32 / 79 | 8 | Credits only | Yes, credits |
| SS Social AI | 4.9 (76) | 2022 | 11.99 / 21.99 / 45.99 | 6 | No | Yes, day-capped |
| VibeFlow | 4.9 (75) | 2023 | Free / 12.99 / 38.99 | 6 | Yes | Yes, templates |
| AutoPost AI | 4.1 (26) | 2024 | Free / 9.99 / 15.99 | 4 | 5 posts/mo | No |
| Plan My Social | 4.2 (6) | 2023 | 5.99 / 9.99 / 19.99 | 7 | No | No |
| SocialPilot | 1.0 (1) | 2025 | 20 | 6 | No | No |
| Yoomru | New | 2026 | Free / 9.99 / 24.99 / 49.99 | 11 | Yes, 30 posts/mo | Yes, deterministic |
Two things jump out before you read a single review.
Outfy has been shipping since 2015 and is still the incumbent. Ten years of reviews is a moat. Any honest comparison has to start by saying that.
The price spread is 14x for the same job. Minta starts at $5. Predis starts at $32 and does not include auto-posting at that tier. You are not paying for capability, you are paying for how each company decided to meter it.
What actually happened when we clicked publish
This is the part the listicles cannot tell you.
Only 4 of 10 let us publish something for free
| App | Result on free tier | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| Yoomru | Published | Live post to Instagram + Pinterest |
| VibeFlow | Published | Live post to Facebook |
| AutoPost AI | Published | Live post to Facebook |
| Outfy | Free tier | 1 auto post per day per network, 3 platforms |
| SS Social AI | Partial | One onboarding post, then hard paywall |
| Xyla AI | Blocked | All publishing trial-locked |
| Predis.ai | Blocked | Cut off after about three creations |
| Minta | Broke | Video never rendered |
| SocialPilot | Paywalled | Blocked on entry |
| Plan My Social | Paywalled | Blocked on install, no trial |
Plan My Social and SocialPilot paywall you before you have seen the product. You subscribe, then you find out what you bought. Plan My Social has no free plan and no trial at all.
Predis.ai synced zero products
We connected Predis to a store full of products. It imported none of them. Its AI brand analysis then generated content about a “password-protected storefront,” which was not what the store was, and produced completely off-theme post ideas as a result.
This is the most expensive app in the comparison at $32 a month for the entry tier, and that tier does not include auto-posting.
Minta never produced the video it advertises
Minta is a video-first app. Its whole pitch is automatic product videos. We ran the onboarding, requested a custom video, and it never rendered. It hung.
Minta’s low-star reviews say the same thing in different words: the app “stops posting,” and one merchant wrote that “saying customers can get started for free is dishonest.” 7% of its 285 reviews are one-star, which is high for this category.
The listings are wrong about several apps
We found real gaps between what the App Store page claims and what the app does once installed:
- VibeFlow shows three pricing tiers on its listing. In-app there were five, from $8.99 to $89.99. It also enforces a hard daily posting cap of 2 to 10 posts per account per day, which the listing does not mention, and it has no LinkedIn.
- Xyla AI advertises “7+” networks. In-app it is six, with no LinkedIn. Logo, custom brand voice, multi-daily posting and premium visuals are all Pro-gated.
- Predis.ai shows no free plan on the listing, but has an in-app “Free+” tier of 500 credits. Its onboarding is a 15-step funnel.
- SocialPilot’s Shopify app is a thin bridge to the standalone SocialPilot SaaS. You need a separate account and API key. That is not stated clearly.
The ten apps, reviewed
1. Outfy: the incumbent, priced like one
4.8 stars, 462 reviews, since 2015. Free / $25 / $40 / $70.
Outfy is the most established app in the category by a decade and it earns the position. Six networks (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube), an AI Studio for UGC and AI videos, multilingual captions, and integrations with Judge.me, Fera and GIPHY.
The catch is price and credits. The jump from free to $25 is the steepest entry fee in the category, and the AI is credit-metered, so flawed output still costs you. The most common complaint in its reviews is AI that “tries to interpret” your product image instead of just using it. Some merchants also report support friction and cancellation problems.
Pick it if: you want the safest, most proven option and $25 to $70 a month is not a consideration.
2. Minta: cheapest entry, reliability questions
4.4 stars, 285 reviews, since 2020. $5 / $35 / $55.
$5 is the lowest real entry price here and Minta is video-first, which is the right instinct for 2026 social.
But it only covers 4 networks (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest), it hard-walls the app until you connect a channel, and in our test the video it promises never rendered. Combined with a 7% one-star rate driven by “stops posting” and misleading-free complaints, it is hard to recommend at face value.
Pick it if: you are on the tightest possible budget, only care about those four networks, and will test reliability hard during the trial.
3. Xyla AI: best onboarding in the category
4.7 stars, 194 reviews, since 2023. Free / $29 / $39 / $60.
Xyla has the polished 6-step wizard that everyone else should copy. It reads your catalog accurately through the Shopify API, generates content in 93 languages, and it does something smart: it creates content beyond products, including holiday posts and brand content, so your feed is not just a product carousel.
The problems are gating and generic AI people. Its UGC videos produced generic AI-looking humans with a watermark on the free tier, and all publishing was trial-locked in our test. Logo and custom voice are Pro features, and everything runs on credits.
Pick it if: you want the smoothest first-run experience and content variety beyond product posts.
4. Predis.ai: the deepest AI, the worst live test
4.6 stars, 129 reviews, since 2022. $32 / $79.
On paper Predis is the most ambitious app here. It builds a 4-week content strategy, an editorial calendar, and has an In Review / Rejected approval pipeline that nobody else offers. Eight networks including Google Business.
On our store it failed the basics. Zero products synced. AI brand analysis that hallucinated a “password-protected store” and generated content off that false premise. Free+ blocked us after about three creations. And auto-posting, the entire category’s core feature, is not in the $32 Core plan. You need Rise at $79 for two auto-posts a day.
Pick it if: you want a content strategy engine and approval workflow more than reliable catalog automation, and you will verify the product sync works on your store before paying.
5. VibeFlow: the strongest competitor automation engine
4.9 stars, 75 reviews, since 2023. Free / $12.99 / $38.99 listed, five tiers in-app.
This was the biggest positive surprise. VibeFlow’s rule builder is the best auto-post engine among the rivals we tested, and it shows you a projected daily posting load before you commit, which is a genuinely thoughtful touch. Its AI captions were accurate and bound to the actual product. It published to Facebook on the free tier without complaint.
Watch for: a hard daily cap of 2 to 10 posts per account per day, no LinkedIn, and a free tier of only 10 posts a month on one channel.
Pick it if: rule-based automation depth matters most and you do not need LinkedIn.
6. SS Social AI: good captions, hard walls
4.9 stars, 76 reviews, since 2022. $11.99 / $21.99 / $45.99.
Accurate AI captions with the correct product URL, which is more than several pricier apps managed. Six networks, though no YouTube.
But there is no free plan, the app hard-walls you until you connect a channel, and it lets you publish exactly one onboarding post before the paywall. X/Twitter posting requires the $45.99 tier. TikTok is still marked beta.
Pick it if: caption accuracy is your priority and you are ready to pay from day one.
7. AutoPost AI by Amasty: honest and limited
4.1 stars, 26 reviews, since 2024. Free / $9.99 / $15.99.
A small, honest app from an established Magento-era vendor. Accurate AI captions with the correct URL, and it published to Facebook for free in our test.
The limits are real: four networks only (X, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest), images only with no video at all, a 5-posts-per-month free tier, a 3-day trial, and scheduling and automation are paid-only. So the free plan cannot actually automate anything.
Pick it if: you want simple image posts to four networks and nothing more.
8. Plan My Social: paywalled before you see it
4.2 stars, 6 reviews, since 2023. $5.99 / $9.99 / $19.99.
Seven networks at a low price sounds good until you install it and hit a subscription wall before any part of the product is visible. No free plan, no trial. It is planning and AI images only, with no video. Support is WhatsApp-only.
Pick it if: honestly, test something else first.
9. SocialPilot: a known brand, a thin app
1.0 stars, 1 review, since 2025. $20.
SocialPilot is a real and respected social media SaaS. The Shopify app is not really that product. It is a bridge that requires a separate SocialPilot account and API key, everything sits behind the single $20 plan, and there is no video generation. There is a 14-day trial, which the listing underplays.
The single 1-star review is not statistically meaningful yet, but a thin Shopify wrapper around an external SaaS is a structurally worse fit than a native app.
Pick it if: you already pay for SocialPilot and want your store wired into it.
10. Yoomru: widest network coverage, newest app
New, launched August 2026. Free / $9.99 / $24.99 / $49.99.
Our app, tested the same way as the rest. What the test showed:
11 networks, the widest in the category: Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, Google Business, Telegram and Discord. It is the only app in this comparison with both Telegram and Discord, which matters if you sell into communities rather than only feeds.
Per-channel validation that prevents failed posts. Compose once, and each channel gets a tab with a warning badge and a specific message (“Instagram requires an image or video”) until it is valid. Failed posts are the quiet plague of this category and this design catches them before they fire.
A planner with skip-out-of-stock, which directly addresses the complaint merchants leave about rivals posting sold-out products, plus interval or weekly scheduling, sleep time, and Judge.me reviews turned into branded post cards.
Deterministic branded video rendered from your real catalog rather than credit-metered AI generation. It cannot hallucinate your product because it does not invent anything.
Where it is behind, honestly: there is no instant generated content on install, so the first run is less impressive than Xyla’s or Outfy’s. The ad-hoc composer’s AI writes from a prompt rather than binding to a specific product and URL the way VibeFlow, AutoPost AI and SS Social AI do, so the planner is product-bound but the free composer is not. Raw AI creative depth is lighter than Predis or Xyla. And with a launch date of August 2026, there is no multi-year review history to point at.
Pick it if: you need networks beyond the usual six, you want a free plan you can actually publish from, and you would rather have accurate catalog-faithful output than a credit balance.
How to choose, in one page
- You want the safest proven option and budget is not tight. Outfy. Ten years, 462 reviews, deepest track record. Budget $25 to $70.
- You want the best automation rules. VibeFlow. Best rule builder we tested. Accept the daily cap and no LinkedIn.
- You want the smoothest onboarding and content variety. Xyla AI. Best wizard, content beyond products. Accept credits and Pro gating.
- You need Telegram, Discord, Google Business or LinkedIn. Yoomru is the only app covering all 11. Most rivals stop at six.
- You want to spend as little as possible. Minta at $5 or AutoPost AI at $9.99, with the caveats above. Test reliability during the trial.
- You need an approval workflow before posts go live. Predis.ai is the only one with a real In Review / Rejected pipeline. Verify product sync first.
The three questions to ask before you install anything
After running all ten, these are the questions that actually predict whether an app will work for you.
1. Can you publish one real post before paying?
If you cannot, you are buying a screenshot. Four of these ten let us reach a live post on the free tier. That is the single most useful filter in the category.
2. Is the output metered by credits?
Credit models charge you for output whether or not it is usable. When an AI generates the wrong image or a hallucinated caption, you paid for it, and you pay again for the retry. Apps with deterministic or unmetered output do not have this failure mode.
3. Does it read your actual catalog?
Test this on day one. Predis synced zero products from a working store and then generated content about a store that did not exist. If the app cannot see your products, everything downstream is fiction.
FAQ
What is the best free Shopify auto-post app in 2026?
Of the apps with a genuinely usable free tier, Yoomru gives the most (30 posts a month, 11 networks available, one connected channel) and VibeFlow is the strongest rival free plan (10 posts a month, one channel). Outfy’s free tier allows one auto-post per day per network across three platforms. AutoPost AI’s free tier is 5 posts a month and cannot automate.
Which app supports the most social networks?
Yoomru at 11. Predis.ai is next at 8. Most of the category sits at 6, and Minta and AutoPost AI cover only 4.
Can these apps post to Telegram or Discord?
Only Yoomru, among the apps in this comparison. If you run a community-led store this is usually the deciding factor.
Do any of them auto-skip out-of-stock products?
Yoomru has an explicit skip-out-of-stock filter in the planner. This is worth checking on any app you evaluate, because posting sold-out products is one of the most common merchant complaints in this category.
Is Outfy worth $25 a month?
If you value a ten-year track record and want the deepest AI creative studio, yes. If you mainly need reliable scheduled posting to your channels, you can get that for $9.99 to $12.99 elsewhere.
Why do so many of these apps have great ratings but bad complaints?
Review counts in this category skew heavily positive because apps prompt for reviews at the moment of successful setup, not after three months of use. Read the 1-star reviews specifically. In this category they cluster around three things: the app silently stops posting, the free plan is not free, and the AI generates wrong or stale product content.
Method note
Every app in this comparison was installed on the same Shopify demo store and walked end to end on 7 August 2026: install, onboarding, channel OAuth, compose, publish, and automation setup. Listing data (ratings, review counts, pricing) was refreshed from the Shopify App Store on 13 August 2026. SocialPilot and Plan My Social were not publish-tested because both require payment before the product is usable.
If any app has shipped a fix since we tested, tell us and we will retest and update this post with the date. We would rather be corrected than be one of the forty articles that never installed anything.
